WORKSHOP

DIDACTA 2026 - March 16
Fortezza dal Basso, Florence

Stress and Burnout in Schools.

Burnout is more than a collection of stress-related symptoms. It is often a silent expression of the gradual wear and tear caused by chronic demands, excessive responsibility, and relational isolation. As a serious condition, burnout can have profound effects on both personal well-being and professional functioning.

When stress becomes overwhelming, it reduces our ability to connect with others, provide support, and care effectively. It can leave us feeling trapped by our circumstances, making it increasingly difficult to give to others with energy, balance, and authenticity.

In this workshop, we will explore the emotional and systemic roots of burnout among adults working in educational settings, with particular attention to teachers. Through a combination of theoretical insights, experiential activities, and practical strategies, participants will learn how to recognize the early signs of burnout and develop effective tools to prevent and manage it when it arises.

Stress and Addiction inside schools.

In an increasingly demanding school system, stress accumulates and sometimes turns into a search for compensation: smoking, food, digital addictions, or repetitive behaviors. Together, we will reflect on how some individual survival strategies can become traps, also questioning the role of the organization in supporting or preventing them. Addictions, as we know, are not just a matter of substances, but of relationships, emotional regulation, and the search for relief. The workshop offers a psychological analysis of the link between work-related stress and addictive behaviors among school staff, offering tools for early recognition and intervention options.
